Can happiness be bought with money?

Money can exactly bring happiness, or there won’t be a saying “money isn’t everything, however, without money, you can’t do anything”, but there are some joy money can’t bought you. Sometimes money may only bring much greedy. In the present age, it seems that we can buy anything though money, but not really every thing, includes happiness.

Money can buy many things, but money isn’t everything; it can’t bring you allegiance friends who will encourage, support, and accompany with you to pass though the darkness when you are weak, either a healthful personality which can be truly respected, nor the joy of success after suffering all conceivable. What’s more, no matter how rich you are, time's scythe won't forgive you. You won’t be able exchange each moment you share with your family, nor health, life and death.

With money, you can buy almost everything to satisfy the physical substance but you might also lose your soul. You can buy a beautiful wife or ask for a handsome guy services for you, but you can’t find a spirit companion unless the person isn’t attracted by your money, and so does friends. You may have a lot of friends and you may be proud of it but the chances are them like money more than a friend. What’s worse, some of them may even cast greedy eyes on your wealth.

Happiness comes from a healthful personality. There is a popular story—A king wanted to know the tips of happiness so he asked the whole kingdom to a recommend person who was the happiest one in the world. The man was a blacksmith who wasn’t rich but always laughing. He told the King how he found joy in his simple daily life such enjoying sunrise and sunset everyday, and the King gave him a bag of gold coin. After arriving home, the blacksmith was so agonizing where to hide the gold that he couldn’t even fall asleep. The second morning, he went to see the king and return his reward. “I return you the gold, and you return my happiness to me!!” he said.

The spirit of soul is something can’t be replaced by anything. Happiness could be bought by money but happiness couldn’t always be bought by money. Money is just a tool, if you are controlled by an object, isn’t it a Miserable? We can work hard for money in order to gain happiness, but never being a slave for money.

My ideal house

My ideal house is a cottage home where is located on grasslands next to a river and a forest and there should be one roomy living room, one dining room, one kitchen, one personal library, one studio, one balcony, five rooms and the most important factor—my family members. Inside the house, I will decorate the house by many artificial flowers, rococo cravings and my favorite paintings, including “The School of Athens”, “Young Girls at the Piano” and so on. Outside the house, some vine crawl around the wall. Still, there should be a stable near by so I can keep my lovely two horses.
Both my ideal living room and dining room are some where I make a point of decorating. There must be a unit of good sofa which anyone may sink into after working whole day long. The floor may be covered with a carpet which is made in Turkey and the corner may be filled with artificial sunflowers. The basic color may be cream-colored, white, red or walnut. The dining room may be next to the living room. A candent pendant may magically make food looks much more delicious. A bunch of fresh daisy should be always on the table. White and laced window curtains may show the nature beauty of the vein on the wooden furniture.
The kitchen is probably the place where my family spends most of their time in. Each of my family enjoys cooking and each one has something special. Especially My father and my brother, they even would like to try new dishes after tasting something good. It’s our luck to enjoy the delicacies but both of them seldom keep it clean instead, my mother and I do. So all I ask my ideal kitchen is clean. As long as it is easy-cleaned, it doesn’t matter what kind of style it would be.
Owning a small-scale library where I can collect all different kind of books in my house is my dream. My father likes collecting books, so does my sister. My mother and I often borrow some books from library. However, I have to write reflections for books or I may not be able to memorize each detail. I will place my father’s piano there, too. Both the piano and those books need to be kept in a dry surrounding. I like my father’s piano very much. So far I haven’t heard any piano can be better than my father’s except in some concerts. I will also arrange some comfortable chairs and sofa there and stay there to begin my journey in my mind.
There are five rooms in my ideal house. The biggest one is for my parents who had spent most of their life to taking care of us so one of the goals in my life is to build them a comfortable place to enjoy their rest life. The Chinese style one is for my grandma who is a devotional Buddha follower. A European one belongs to my sister who works as an editor and often shares the fragrance of the books with me. The little library is built for us. Any good book is needy to be shared. Still another room is for my brother. I know he is fond of Japanese culture very much but I am not sure whether he will like a Japanese style or not so I wound let the owner to design it himself. I might decorate my room as a studio. I’d like to have some bookshelf and a wooden desk with drawers, a big window so I can feel the breeze, and a computer with the fastest network there.
To me, the ideal house is one of the goals in my life. I hope it may come true some day although I know it is hard to achieve. The children become adults and hen leave home to fright for their future. It seems impossible to live together forever. But one thing we always keep in mind and treasure about is our family. We may not have chance to riding houses, walking in the forest along the river, reading in the personal library, living in a luxurious house but we can chatting anywhere, sleeping and snoring together, taking care of each other and spending our life in a lovely house and that is everything.

My Grand mother

There are many people may walk in and out of our life but only some may leave their footprints in our mind. To me, the one who I always miss the most is my grandma. In fact, she is not really my grandma but she is the best grandma in the world. She is a genial lady who owns the secret of beauty. She is also a Goddess to my family and the world. She is one of the most important persons to me.

Actually, my grandma is not really my father’s mother, instead she is my babysitter. My true grandma was gone when my father was young so my even my mother doesn’t know how she looks. My parents were both busy when I was young so my nurse, in another word, my grandma, took care of me the most. I didn’t know we are not kindred until my grandma wants to come back to her hometown and live with her daughter.

My grandma is the most beautiful lady I've ever seem. She has silver and roll up hair which is shiny like water reflecting moonlight and waving smoothly. Her skin is wrinkle but it tells thousands of stories that she has been experienced in. She smells good but not because of the perfume. Her charity and kindness quality makes each child likes to hug her and enjoy the atmosphere around her. She isn't tall and nor fat. But she owns a beautiful mind which makes her looks like an angel.

As I know, there’s no one who doesn’t like her in the world. Each of my family loves her and gets along with her. Even each one of my neighbor does, too. My father admired her moral integrity and my mother likes her fun-loving wisdom very much. My sister enjoys the flavor around her and my brother is stick to the food cooked by her. To me, she is my not only my closest family member but also my best friend.

She has a pair of rough hands which can flexibly cook delicious dinner for whole family. What's more, she also uses her creasy hands to create many miracles. She helps people to do the recycle and collects garbage as a dustbin man in person; she won the second award in a sign language competition when she is sixty-six; she gives a hand to the poor, including sending food and taking care of other old men who lives along.

My parents are much strict to me so sometimes I dare not to tell them my weakness instead, I share with my grandma. She is the best listener who comforts me the most. When I was young, my parents were too busy to accompany with me, so I even regard them as my uncle and aunt. At that time, my grandma shaped my personality and tolerated my wide bad-temper. This summer, I had worked in America for two months. One day when I was making a phone call to her, I suddenly bursted into tears as soon as I heard her voice without reasons. Nor my parents, nor my family members, but my grandma, she is the best gift sent from the God.

My grandmother is the one who I can feel the sun shine and spring breeze from her. I like to embrace her and feel the joy of love between us. After attending to third year of university, I have to go to cream school and lead a jail-like studying life. I may not have many chances to go to her hometown to see her but I know no matter when I look at her, she will always smile to me.

Romeo and Juliet

Romeo and Juliet have been widely regarded as archetypal young lovers and the play has been treated as a classic successful composition but after reading the literature, I don’t exactly agree that their love is worthy to own such a worldwide fame. I even wonder whether it is true love or not. What is true love? Or maybe we should focus on the conflict between love and hate at the tragic romances instead of being persist in the topic—love.

What I wonder the most is how could Romeo love Rosaline so crazily as if she already took away his soul one second ago and then fall in love with Juliet next second? Although Rosaline is just a supporting role which even doesn’t appear on speak a word in the play, but we can imagine her though Romeo. If you really love someone, how can you change your mind right away? I think Romeo is a monomania in love. Whole his soul exists for love whether life and death. However, what if Juliet doesn’t love him? Would he loves another woman or still yearn madly for Rosaline? Some people say love is superstitious about a right couple who may meet at a right place and at the right time. So what is love?

Love is blind, so does Romeo. According to the psychology, there are two basic desires-- “the desire to be the most important in the other’s mind” and” the desire to be taken care” that people can be satisfied though love. As a baby, we cry for the two desires. As an adult, we ask for an ideal mate to cater for love. There is another saying” A baker's wife may bite of a bun; a brewer's wife may bite of a tun.”Since the middle class has been risen and developed, the structure of the society has been changed. The nuclear family became a popular phenomenon and so does the love. Nowadays, almost all human being’s works relate with love. It seems that we over emphasize the importance of love in the present age.

“Here’s much to do with hate, but more with love.” Romeo and Juliet finally commit suicide for frustrated love and their love also melts the animosity between two families. Beyond dispute, we all agree that love is what we need and what the world need. In Romeo and Juliet, there is another good sentence “one fire burns out another’s burning, one pain is lessen by another’s anguish.” People live in groups, the differences between cultures causes many problems. Even the family members may fight because of selfish or misunderstanding. Understanding, tolerance and love are the courses we have to take during our whole life. The battle between Capulet and Montague are epitome of war and Romeo and Juliet are the sacrifices of the war.

Some people explain Romeo's infatuation provides a comparison through which the audience can see the seriousness of Romeo and Juliet's love and marriage. But I instinctively think Romeo is a fool in love. However, anyone may be fool in love so it's still worthy to sing the praises of Romeo and Juliet as kind of literature, art and emotions to spirit.

Les Misérables

"It was the best of times. It was the worst of times." What a miserable story it could be? Why it has been a part of the major European influence on Broadway since the 80's? As a foreigner who visited New York at first time, what I expected the most must be enjoying a Broadway opera. The houselights became darker and darker. An impressive music convulsed the whole luxuriant theater…

Les Misérables is a story about Valjean, who had been kept in a captivity for 19 years because he was too hungry and filch a bread when he was a little boy, was released on parole and moved by a saintly Bishop. Henceforward, he kept his identity hidden and leaded a new life. He became a factory director and a mayor in a city. At that time, unfortunate Fantine, who has a secret illegitimate child, Cosette, asked him to take care of the little Cosette when she was dying. However, Javert, who has been tracking Valjean for years, pressed him to escape away again. Nine years later, Cosette falls in love with Marius. Then they experienced love and war, live and death…

Les Misérables faithfully shows the underclass life and fills the sunshine among the dark clouds. In 1800s, the most serious social problem in France is the inequality between aristocracy and bottom-feeder. Most people lead a miserable life. It seems that anyone can not help it. Hugo shows how even the lowliest among us — the homeless, the hungry, the destitute, the fortuneless— have something important to contribute to society and are therefore worth to be respect. Valjean may be a demoralized criminal forever but he changed his life by himself and spread the favor which he received. Humanity is the reason why the story has touched people’s mind for hundred years. Human nature creates all tragedies and miracles. As a gear wheel in the world I ask what I can do more often than why I live. It remind me a poem
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by
And that has made all the difference
--“The Road not taken” by Robert Frost --

My friends asked me why I choose Les Misérables from hundreds of Broadway. In fact, just for a simple reason, the picture attracted me a lot. At first sight, it stuck into my mind without reason. I've ever read the original work“Les Misérables”when I was a teenager but it did not leave a strong impression to me. I also wonder what a miserable story it could be and how the best artists around the world express its spirit.

Victor Hugo said: "I condemn slavery, I banish poverty, I teach ignorance, I treat disease, I lighten the night, and I hate hatred. That is what I am, and that is why I have written Les Miserables." The composition against human suffering, poverty, and ignorance. Its purpose is as much political as it is artistic. It condenses history, art and life. Literature is not only Literature, so does art. That is why it brings up immortal.
