Tie a yellow ribbon round the ole oak tree
Artist:Dawn Featuring Tony Orlando
It’s a song that tells a real story. A man who had been in jail for three years because he was bankrupt was released. He was on the way home by bus although he didn’t know whether his wife can accept him or not. He told his wife that he will be free soon. If she still wanted him, tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree that stands there that they both know. If there is no yellow ribbon than he will leave knowing blamed. When the bus almost arrived there, the man dared not to see. He asked the driver to tell him the answer from his wife. Whole passengers were excitedly bawled and he could hardly believe that--Almost hundreds yellow ribbons were tied on the tree.
Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree
I'm coming home I've done my time*(1)
Now I've got to know what is and isn't mine
If you received my letter telling you I'd soon be free
Then you'll know just what to do if you still want me
If you still want me
Oh tie a yellow ribbon round the ole oak tree
It's been three long years do you still want me
If I don't see a ribbon round the ole oak tree
I'll stay on the bus forget about us put the blame on me*(2)
If I don't see a yellow ribbon round the ole oak tree
Bus driver please look for me
'Cause I couldn't bear to see what I might see
I'm really still in prison and my love she holds the key
A simple yellow ribbon's what I need to set me free
I wrote and tell her please
Oh tie a yellow ribbon round the ole oak tree
It's been three long years do you still want me
If I don't see a ribbon round the ole oak tree
I'll stay on the bus forget about us put the blame on me
If I don't see a yellow ribbon round the ole oak tree
Now the whole damn bus is cheering
And I can't believe I see
A hundred yellow ribbons round the ole oak tree
I'm coming home
