National Flags is a symbol of a country. There are usually some meaningful colors or pictures or words to show each country’s spirits. Have you ever wondered why human beings need flags as their badge? In fact, the usages of flags are many though people usually regard it as a decoration. In Taiwan, whether we can hang our national flags in an international grand meeting is always the focal point to Taiwanese.
There are almost 192 countries around the world and each one owns a beautiful national flag. The most familiar flags might be Japanese and American. To Japanese, the red sun on the center of the flag means their location can see the sun light earlier than the other powerful countries. The raising sun also shows their nationality. To American, there are three colors on the flags—red means courage, white means truth and blue means justice. There are fifty stars represent for fifty U.S. states.
National flag is an emblem which can exhibit its history and culture. Not only in the festival days or national meeting such as WTO or WHO but also in any kind of international activities such as the Olympiad or World cup, national flags have been played an important role. Particularly when wars take place, wave flags can inspire people. Besides, flags can lead army and give people confidence. Have you ever moved by the same flags waving together? If you have been to the scene watching ball game, you must understand how magic power the flags can bring to people!
In Taiwan, there is a beautiful name to call the national flags--Blue Sky, White Sun, and a Wholly Red Earth. The three colors mean freedom, quality and philanthropy. Because of complex history background, Taiwan hasn’t been acknowledged as a real dependent country although practically we are. In Olympiad, we usually may be asked to hang the flag which is signed Taipei where is the capital instead of the national flag. My sister ever told me “How can we drape over our national flag when we win a champion in Olympiad?” Hanging on the Blue Sky, White Sun, and a Wholly Red Earth flag is not really a simple thing.
A national flag stands for a country. Although it is just made by cloth, the spirit symbolism is far excess its substance. As well as treasure our national flags, treasure our country. No matter sunny or rainy, let the flag blow in our mind.
